Kimberling City Area: Hard to ignore the success anglers are having with an umbrella rig right now; numbers and quality has been nothing short of amazing. Most are finding fish suspended on channel swing and chunk rock banks or points. Wind has been a key to finding larger fish. Swimbaits like a Zoom Swimmin’ Super Fluke Jr. or 4” single tail grubs have been the best offerings with white and shad colors outperforming all others. Cast the bait out, count it down and make a steady moderate retrieve to draw strikes.

Constant generation until the weekend make fishing great on Taneycomo this past week, the Corps ran water everyday and the trout were in a biting mood. Jigs have continued to produce in eddies and current breaks, work the jig erratically in the slack water to draw strikes. Several anglers have done well on Little Cleo and Bouyant Spoons this past week as well, working them across the current with a steady moderate retrieve. Live crawlers and power bait or gulp eggs continue to produce on a drift rig, keep the bait close to the bottom to be effective.

Umbrella Rig Brownie!

Lake – Table Rock

Kimberling City Area: Rain late in the week has raised the lake level about a foot and lower the overall water temps b around three degrees. The influx of water has caused the Corps to run water daily through the generators in preparation for spring rains. The bite hasn’t changed much with both deep and shallow patterns producing fish through out the mid lake. Shallow fish can be caught on Jewel Football and Pro Spider jigs, Wiggle Warts and Umbrella rigged grubs; look for fish to be on rocky banks and points holding from 10 ‘ – 25’ deep close to deeper water. Constant generation has lead to some good fishing on Taneycomo. Fast moving lures like Little Cleos and Bouyant Spoons have been producing numbers and quality when the water is running hard. Sculpin peach and sculpin orange jigs are producing as well; look for current breaks and eddies to be the most productive areas and work the jig erratically to draw strikes. As always fish can be caught on drift rigs; power bait and gulp eggs continue to out produce other offerings on the rig.

1/22/11 Table Rock Fishing Report

Lake – Table Rock

1/22/12:

Check out our new site: http://tournamentfishingradio.com

Kimberling City Area: Despite another week of colder temperature the water temp has remained fairly constant; main lake temperatures are still hovering around 50 degrees and the rivers are still in the mid to upper 40’s. The deep bite is still fairly strong with Chompers Webb Tail Spoons and drop shot worms catching most of the fish. The majority seem to be holding a little deeper than in recent weeks with the best bite coming 40’ – 50’ deep over as much as 80’. The shallow bite has waned a little bit, Wiggle Warts and Bandit 300’s still effective on rocky points and banks on the main lake and in the larger creek arms.

Jewel Swim Gem ‘Brella Rig – Inovative Alabama Rig

Unless you live under rock somewhere you’ve heard of the Alabama Rig, if not, where ya been for the last few months?
We’ve covered the craze here and on air on Tournament Fishing Radio where we brought in the creator of the original Alabama rig, Andy Poss for an interview.
Recently Jewel Bait Company introduced a multi-bait castable umbrella rig, The Jewel Swim Gem ‘brella. Much like other rigs the Jewel Swim Gem ‘brella allows for casting up to four baits at a time, from there all similarities end.

Based on Hyper Striper trolling rig made by the folks that pour lead for Jewel, KG Enterprise, for over 20years. The Swim Gem ‘brella creates the school of bait fish look with several notable differences: Read more »

Kimberling City Area: The recent cold snap and snow has lowered water temperatures over the past week. Average temps remain in the upper 40’s in the main lake and the rivers are a little colder averaging in the low to mid 40’s. The bite in the mid lake has remained strong despite to cooler temperatures; still a strong shallow bite 10’ – 15’ deep on Jewel football and spider jigs, wiggle warts and Bandit 300’s. The deep bite actually benefited from the cooler temps moving bait and fish off shore and tightening schools of both shad and fish. Chompers Webb Tail spoons and drop shot worms are the best baits.
